bet365 Is It Down
Nine times out of ten it is not the site — it is a VPN, a cache, a carrier or a geolocation check. Run the diagnostic below, then use the error codes to name what you are actually looking at.
No platform-wide Canadian outage recorded at the last check. That is a human check on a fixed schedule, not a live feed — so the useful test is the one you run from your own device, right now.
What happens to your money when the site drops
This is the question underneath every "is it down" search, and the answer is more reassuring than the panic suggests. Nothing important lives in your browser. Bets are accepted on the server, casino rounds are resolved on the server, and your balance is a server-side number. Your screen is a window onto that, and losing the window does not change what is on the other side of it.
The corollary is the part people get wrong: if you did not see a confirmation, nothing happened. A bet slip that never returned a reference was never accepted, and no stake left your balance for it. Placing it again is safe. What is not safe is assuming it went through and placing it a second time after the site recovers — check your bet history first.
A confirmed bet stands
If you got a reference number, it exists and it will settle normally, whatever your screen is doing.
An interrupted spin resumes
Reload the game and the unfinished round picks up where it stopped. Any win already determined is credited.
A pending payout is unaffected
Withdrawals sit in a processing queue, not in your session. An outage does not cancel one or send it back.
Find your symptom, get the fix
The page will not load at all
Switch from wifi to mobile data. If it loads on data, the fault is your home network — an ISP-level block on gambling domains, a router DNS filter or a parental control. Changing your DNS to a public resolver usually clears it. If it fails on both, move down this list.
It says I am not in a permitted location
Turn off any VPN or private relay, including iCloud Private Relay, which people forget is on. Allow location access for the browser. On mobile, step outside or near a window — a weak GPS fix inside a concrete building produces the same refusal as being in the wrong province. Ontario accounts are checked against the Ontario boundary specifically.
Login loops back to the login screen
A stale session cookie, nearly every time. Clear cookies for the site, or open a private window to prove it. Aggressive tracking protection and some ad blockers also break the login handshake — disable them for this domain rather than globally.
Games load but freeze part-way through
Usually the game provider rather than the operator. Live dealer tables are especially bandwidth-hungry and drop first on a congested connection. Try a different game from a different studio: if that one is fine, it is the studio, and nothing on your side will fix it.
The cashier will not open
One payment provider can be down while everything else is healthy, and the cashier sometimes fails to render rather than showing that one method as unavailable. Wait ten minutes and retry with a different method. If deposits specifically are failing while the site works, it is a payment issue — see the payment methods page.
The app works but the website does not, or vice versa
That asymmetry is itself the diagnosis: a genuine platform outage takes both down. One working means the backend is fine and the problem is in the other client — a stale app version, a cached web bundle, or a browser extension. Update the app, hard-refresh the site.
What the error actually means
Grouped by what you see on screen, because the wording varies between the app, the mobile site and desktop.
| What you see | What it really is | Outage? | First thing to try |
|---|---|---|---|
| "Not available in your location" | Geolocation refusal | No | Kill the VPN, allow location, retry |
| "Session expired" | Stale cookie or a second device logged in | No | Clear site cookies, log in again |
| "Unable to process your deposit" | Issuer declined the transaction | No | Check card controls at your bank |
| Spinner that never resolves | Cached front-end bundle out of step | Rarely | Hard refresh, then clear cache |
| "Game temporarily unavailable" | One studio's feed is down | Partial | Play a title from another provider |
| Maintenance notice | Planned work, usually brief | Planned | Wait it out; the notice gives a window |
| Server error / 5xx page | A genuine platform fault | Yes | Confirm on a second network, then wait |
The 60-second diagnostic
In order. Most people never get past step three.
-
1
Turn off every VPN and private relay. Including the one your browser enables quietly. This single step resolves more "outages" than everything else combined.
-
2
Swap wifi for mobile data. Different network, same result means the problem is upstream. Different result means your home network is filtering the domain.
-
3
Open a private window. It bypasses cookies, cache and most extensions in one move. If the site works there, clear the site data in your normal window.
-
4
Try the other client. App if you were on web, web if you were on the app. One working proves the platform is up.
-
5
Try a second device on a different network. A phone on cellular next to a laptop on wifi is the cleanest test available to you, and it takes ten seconds.
-
6
Only now assume an outage. If all five failed identically, it is not you. Wait — do not place the same bet repeatedly and do not open a second account. Check your bet history once things are back.
Outage log
Disruptions affecting Canadian players that we recorded or had reported to us by several readers independently. Short local blips are not listed — there would be no end to them.
Live dealer tables dropping, roughly 40 minutes
Studio-side rather than operator-side. Slots and the sportsbook were unaffected throughout, which is the classic signature of a single content provider having trouble.
Interac deposits failing intermittently, about 2 hours
Payment-provider side. Cards continued to work, and every affected deposit either completed or was returned automatically. Nothing needed to be claimed back.
Planned maintenance overnight, under 30 minutes
Announced in advance and served as a maintenance notice rather than an error. Pending withdrawals queued and processed normally afterwards.
Geolocation refusals clustered in one region, several hours
Traced to a mobile carrier routing traffic through an out-of-province gateway. Players on wifi were unaffected, which is why swapping networks is step two of the diagnostic.
Log maintained by Colette Fournier. Last entry reviewed 1 Sep 2026. Reader reports are cross-checked against a second device on a separate network before anything is added.
What changed over the past year
Fewer full outages, more partial ones
The pattern has shifted from "the whole site is down" to "one product is down". A live-dealer studio or a single payment provider failing while everything else runs is now the typical incident, and it is easy to mistake for a total outage if that product is the one you wanted.
Geolocation got stricter, and noisier
Ontario's regulated market means location checks are enforced against a provincial boundary rather than a national one. More precision means more false refusals for people on VPNs, corporate networks and carrier gateways.
Payment failures now dominate the reports
With Instadebit and iDebit gone from the Canadian cashier, more traffic runs through Interac and cards, and a wobble at one provider is felt by more people at once. Most of what gets reported as an outage is a payment problem.
The app and the site fail independently
They share a backend but not a front end, so a bad web release no longer takes the app down with it. That is good for uptime and useful for you: one working client tells you the platform is fine.
What Canadian players report
Reader messages about outages and error screens, lightly trimmed. Dates are when they reached us.
"Kept getting the location error on my phone in downtown Toronto. Turned out to be iCloud Private Relay, which I did not know was even switched on. Off, and it worked instantly."
"Live blackjack froze mid-hand and I assumed I had lost the bet. Reloaded and the hand was still there, already settled, money in the balance."
"Nothing loaded on my home internet for two days. Worked fine on data the whole time. It was my provider blocking the domain, not the site."
Outage questions, answered
Is bet365 down right now in Canada?
Most of the time, no. The overwhelming majority of reports turn out to be local: a browser cache, a VPN left running, a mobile carrier having a bad hour, or a geolocation check failing. Run the 60-second diagnostic on this page before assuming the site itself is offline.
What happens to my bet if bet365 goes down?
A bet already accepted stands. Acceptance happens on the server, so if you received a confirmation and a bet reference the bet exists whether or not your screen still works. A bet that was never confirmed was never placed, and no money left your balance for it.
What happens to a casino spin if the site drops mid-game?
Game rounds are settled server-side. An interrupted round is resumed when you reload the game, and any win already determined is credited. This is why the balance you see after reconnecting is sometimes higher than the one you left.
Why does bet365 say I am not in a permitted location?
A geolocation refusal, not an outage. A VPN, a corporate network, poor GPS on mobile or being genuinely outside the permitted area will all produce it. Turn off any VPN, allow location access in the browser, and retry on your own connection.
Why can I log in on mobile data but not on my home wifi?
Your home network is the difference: a router-level DNS filter, a parental control, or an ISP block on gambling domains. Switching between wifi and mobile data is the single most useful test you can run, and it takes ten seconds.
Does bet365 have scheduled maintenance?
Yes, and it is usually short and outside peak hours. Planned work generally shows as a maintenance notice rather than an error, and it can affect one product — casino, or a payment method — while everything else keeps running.
My deposit failed. Is the site down?
Almost certainly not. A failed deposit is nearly always the card issuer refusing a gambling transaction. If the rest of the site loads normally, treat it as a payment problem and check the payment methods page rather than the status of the platform.
Where can I check whether other Canadians are affected?
Compare against a second device on a different network first, since that separates a local fault from a real outage faster than anything else. If both fail identically, the problem is upstream of you.
